What type of hunting does Finca La Caminera practice?

The hunting modality that we practice at Finca La Caminera is the classic partridge shooting, recognized for its excellence and tradition in Spanish hunting. We organize shooting days with native partridge, where the lines of guns are strategically positioned to offer high, fast, and demanding shots, representing the essence of classic shooting for both national and international hunters. Furthermore, at La Caminera, we offer both one-day and two-day shoots, as well as driven hunts, adapting the schedule and days to the needs of the hunter and the best hunting dates. The environment, the expert organization, and the density of partridge make our shoots a selective and top-level experience.

What distinguishes the red partridge that is hunted in La Caminera?

The red partridge is the indigenous partridge of our estate. It is characterized by its strength, bravery, and high flight. The shooting arrangements at La Caminera Estate are designed to take full advantage of the natural flight of the red partridge: vertical flights, very high, with sustained speed and long trajectories that challenge the accuracy of shotguns. This translates into selective hunting, with tense shots and very technical throws, where only the hunter with good reflexes and skill can take advantage of the strength and height of this robust partridge.

How many partridge shoots do they offer and how are they organized?

At La Caminera, we offer more than 20 different hunts, all designed to maintain the purity and challenge of the classic red partridge hunt. Typically, each hunting day organizes 5 hunts per day, adapted to the group's level and each hunter's preferences.
A standard two-day hunt includes 10 custom-configured hunts, allowing for adjustment of the pace and intensity according to the shooters' skills, the desired number of partridges, and the characteristics of the group. This flexibility ensures that each party experiences a personalized adventure, with different hunting scenarios within the estate and attention from a dedicated professional team.

What geographical features does the estate have?

The estate extends over an irregular terrain, where wide valleys and deep ravines alternate, creating a perfect topography for red partridge hunting. The variety of heights, slopes, and ridges allows for the design of highly diverse hunting days, with demanding shots and high flights.
Between the cultivated areas and the mountains carved by gullies and seasonal streams, a rich and changing landscape unfolds. In this environment, the partridge finds food, shelter, and the ideal conditions to thrive. The combination of hills, cliffs, and meadows gives rise to a large number of hunting pegs and settings, always preserving the traditional style of Manchego hunting.

La Caminera offers exceptional geography for hunting activity: wide plains situated at about 550 meters above sea level, covered with wheat and barley, which provide sustenance for wildlife; and mountains reaching 800 meters, with ravines and valleys adding complexity and excitement to the practice of hunting.

The ensemble is completed with areas of low scrub dotted with oaks and holm oaks, which provide refuge and balance to the ecosystem. This alternation of crops, forests, and reliefs forms a unique environment, where each day offers new settings and challenging flights under the unmistakable sky of La Mancha.

How does the estate contribute to the breeding and raising of the red-legged partridge?

Finca La Caminera significantly contributes to the reproduction and breeding of the red-legged partridge by providing a perfect habitat that combines running water, cereal crops, and a landscape of scrubland and hillside. This combination offers both food and optimal shelter for the partridge to reproduce and raise its young under ideal conditions.
The available water in streams and small natural springs is essential for the species' survival, while the cereal crops provide food and open areas for foraging. The scrubland and hillside slopes offer cover and protection from predators, facilitating safe nesting and the rearing of chicks.

This ecological balance ensures a robust and healthy partridge population, favoring the quality of the hunting experience and the sustainability of the hunting ground.

What amenities does La Caminera offer besides hunting?

La Caminera is not only a benchmark for quality hunting but also an exclusive destination for those seeking a complete experience in the heart of the Manchego nature. After a day of hunting, the hunter can relax in a five-star hotel that combines modern comfort with the authenticity of the countryside.

Our Country Club features a 9-hole golf course integrated into the landscape, paddle tennis courts, hiking and cycling trails, and a private airfield that facilitates direct access to the estate. The highlighted Restaurant Retama, awarded a Michelin star under the direction of chef Miguel Angel Expósito, elevates Manchego game cuisine with dishes such as cured partridge breast cooked on volcanic stone, paired in an underground cellar with over 200 references of local and world wines.

Our Spa Elaiwa, spanning 800 m² and inspired by Roman baths and the power of the estate's own olive oil, offers a thermal circuit with a Finnish sauna, steam bath, sensory showers, dynamic pools, chromotherapy, and personalized treatments such as the Olive Oil Spa Sommelier, perfect for recovering the body after the hunting effort.

Furthermore, at La Caminera, we design tailor-made experiences that integrate gastronomy, relaxation, sports, and excursions through the most genuine nature of La Mancha. Among these, visits to sustainable cheese factories, wine tastings, and tours of iconic landscapes stand out, thus offering an exclusive and personalized experience for each guest.

This collection of services makes Finca La Caminera a unique place where hunting complements luxury, well-being, and a deep connection with the Manchego natural environment, designed for country lovers who value excellence in every detail.

Additionally, we pick up the hunter at the airport, train station, or hotel, integrating their arrival at our 5-star hotel, complete with a spa and Michelin gastronomy for a total immersion in the art of the countryside.

What is the duration of the partridge hunting season?

At La Caminera, our red partridge hunting season runs approximately from September 15 to March 31, making the most of the hunting period.

This extended duration, beyond the general small game hunting season in the region (from October 12 to January 31), sets us apart, offering up to 5 drives per day on our 1,000 hectares during the key months of October to March, when the red partridge displays its best hunting behavior under the Manchegan skies.

Our planning ensures personalized availability during this wide period, managing licenses and authorizations so that the hunter can focus solely on the challenging shooting and the tradition of classic driving.

Does it include lunch or gastronomy in the hunting experience?

The hunting experience at Finca La Caminera transcends the hunting day itself and always includes a top-level gastronomic proposal, closely linked to the Manchego territory and the culinary excellence of Hotel La Caminera.

What role does biodiversity play in La Caminera?

Biodiversity at Finca La Caminera plays a fundamental role, shaping a balanced ecosystem where the red partridge, an emblematic species of the estate, lives harmoniously with other small game species and endangered animals. The estate spans varied terrain with plains, sierras, gorges, and crops that provide refuge, food, and natural habitat both for the partridge and for the rabbit, the Iberian lynx, the imperial eagle, the owl, and the royal kite.
This natural balance is maintained with a scrupulous respect for the native fauna and the conservation of the environment, making La Caminera a sanctuary where protected species find a safe space year-round. The presence of these emblematic species enhances the environmental value of the estate and reinforces its commitment to sustainability and the preservation of Manchegan biodiversity.
Thus, at La Caminera, hunting tradition is not just a matter of game, but a comprehensive commitment to preserving the natural heritage of the region, where the grandeur of red partridge shooting is enjoyed in a living, vibrant, and biodiverse environment that dignifies the hunting art. This balance adds a unique dimension to the experience for the hunter, who not only participates in the hunt but also appreciates the deep respect for nature that makes it possible.

We also take care of cleaning the boots upon returning from the hunt to ensure they are perfect for the next day.

What arrangements does Finca La Caminera make for the shooter?

At Finca La Caminera, we handle all the necessary administrative tasks so that foreign hunters can enjoy their red partridge shooting without bureaucratic worries, efficiently processing the permits to travel with firearms to Spain from Schengen or non-EU countries.

Permits for entry with firearms
For hunters from the European Union, we manage the European Firearms Card, endorsed by the Civil Guard, along with the official invitation from the estate that verifies the hunting event, ensuring that the firearm arrives at the gun locker without any issues. For non-EU origins, such as the U.S., we obtain the ATF Visitor's Permit and temporary import authorizations, coordinating with customs and airlines for a seamless transit.

Regional hunting license
We also process the Castilla-La Mancha Hunting License, valid for one year, which legally qualifies the hunter for the day in our Manchegan plains, with all documents printed and ready to be presented to any authority requirement.

Comprehensive advice
Our hunting team guides the shooter at every step —from the application at Arms Interventions to the declaration on flights— ensuring that the focus remains on the high flight of the red-legged partridge and not on bureaucracy.

What documentation must the hunter provide?

The hunter who wishes to participate in a hunting day at Finca La Caminera must provide a series of essential documents to comply with current regulations in Spain and ensure a hassle-free experience. These documents include:

  • Valid official identification: DNI for Spaniards, NIE or passport for foreigners.
  • Current hunting license, whether from another Spanish Autonomous Community or another country.
  • Valid firearms license for hunting.
  • Civil liability insurance for hunting activity.

If the shooter does not have insurance, Finca La Caminera manages the hiring of an appropriate one for the duration of the stay and the hunting activity, thus ensuring the necessary coverage for practicing hunting in the area. This comprehensive management allows the hunter to focus solely on enjoying the experience, rather than on bureaucratic matters.

What can the hunters' companions do during their stay?

At Finca La Caminera, the companions of the hunters enjoy an enriching and flexible stay, being able to integrate into the hunting day or opt for exclusive activities that enhance the pleasure of La Mancha.

Participation in the hunt
They can join the shooters throughout the shoot, witnessing the red partridge shots from privileged positions, or we request that our service picks them up to join the hunting party or countryside lunch, savoring Manchego barbecue in the heart of the monte.

At Hotel La Caminera, they have access to all luxury facilities: rounds on the 9-hole golf course, rejuvenating sessions at Elaiwa Spa with olive oil sommelier treatments, cycling through the olive groves, paddle tennis on professional courts, or relaxation in pools and saunas.

Personalized excursions
We organize private visits to Toledo, Córdoba, or Granada, as well as tours of nearby gems like Viso del Marqués, Villanueva de los Infantes, Almagro, or Valdepeñas; tastings in select wineries, tastings in artisanal cheese shops, and other cultural experiences that turn the wait into an authentic Manchego delight.

What is a hunting day like at La Caminera?

The hunting day at Finca La Caminera begins after a homemade breakfast at the hotel, where the shooters prepare for the day. In the Hunters' Lounge, a draw for positions is conducted, introducing each hunter to their support team, which consists of a secretary and a loader who will accompany them throughout the day.

Once organized, the teams travel in all-terrain vehicles across the extensive estate to reach the various drives, which usually number five per day. While they prepare, a snack is provided for the hunters, taking the opportunity to explain the safety measures and how the day will unfold.

Mid-morning, a stop is made to rest and enjoy a rustic snack at the estate; if the companions prefer not to participate in the hunt, the estate offers to pick them up from the hotel to take them to the lunch spot in the field. The day continues with the remaining drives until completion, after which the participants enjoy a meal in the field before returning to the hotel to relax in the spa, in the exclusive Hunters' Lounge, or play on the golf course surrounding the estate.

This itinerary reflects a perfect balance between the excitement of hunting red partridge and the comfort and natural luxury that characterize La Finca la Caminera, making each day an exclusive and memorable experience.

What can pilots do when landing at the La Finca La Caminera airstrip?

At Finca La Caminera, we provide high-end rental vehicles for pilots landing at our exclusive airfield, allowing for travel through the Manchego landscapes. This additional service, offered with the distinction that characterizes us, ensures maximum comfort in your exploration of the region.
